Kayak and life vest found, but kayaker still missing near Dungeness Spit

Ty Coone placed a 911 call on Tuesday afternoon to report that he was “in distress and possibly drowning,” prompting a search and rescue effort.

CLALLAM COUNTY, Wash. — The search for a missing kayaker was suspended on Wednesday morning, after his empty kayak, life vest and paddle were found near the Dungeness Spit by rescuers. 

Search efforts for Ty Coone began on Tuesday afternoon after he placed a 911 call to report that he was “in distress and possibly drowning,” according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). Family members said Coone had been fishing from his kayak.
