Hood Canal Bridge reopens to marine traffic after debris concern

During a routine closure for marine traffic around 1 p.m. Monday, the bridge experienced a mechanical malfunction.

KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. — The Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said Wednesday that the Hood Canal Bridge’s closure may have been caused by debris affecting its span.

The agency said there was part of the bridge’s span that was dislodged Monday when a tugboat pulled on it. WSDOT said it does not see any bridge damage but will continue to evaluate. A dive team went underwater Tuesday and did not find anything underwater that would interfere with bridge operations.
