Protesters shut down a new $150 million engineering building at UW after causing over $1 million in damage.
SEATTLE — A newly opened engineering building at the University of Washington (UW) was closed after protesters caused extensive damage Monday night during an overnight occupation.
The building, which cost $150 million to construct, including $10 million in funding from Boeing, had been open for a few weeks before Monday night’s protest.
